Still the same problem with High Sierra. Damien (Audirvana programmer) is saying that Apple is beeing deaf to his requests. This is an important point, Audirvana is considered as the number one HiFi audio reader over the world. A Windows version will be release at the end of this year. It would be really a shame that a Mac native software runs better on PC.
So please APPLE enable that feature again on Mac OS !!!
You can easily replace the High Sierra IOAudioFamily.kext file with the same kext from El Capitan, which will allow Direct Mode in A+.
1. During boot hold down Command + R (continue holding down the recovery mode key combination) until you boot to recovery mode.
2. Once in recovery mode launch the terminal.
3. Type this command into the terminal: “sudo crsutil disable” (don’t use the quotes) then hit “enter”. When prompted enter your password and then “enter” again.
The above command disables SIP, which is a requirement for modifying or replacing protected kext files.
4. Reboot to normal OSX High Sierra Desktop
5. Download the “Kext Wizard” application and install it. (Scroll to the bottom of the page for the following link and download the application:)
6. Launch the Kext Wizard and drop the following El Capitan Version of IOAudioFamily.kext into the Kext Wizard "installation" window. (Make sure you choose a "target disk" in the Kext Wizard installation window that matches your boot disk).

You can download a copy of the El Capitan kext here and just save it to your desktop and then drop it into the kext wizard. Install the kext and reboot. The “Direct Mode” should now be visible and available in the A+ preferences>audio system pane. El Capitan kext download: https://www.dropbox.com/s/v21384kygrywvfh/IOAudioFamily.kext.zip?dl=0

Apple is not here. This is a users forum. You can send Apple feedback here…

On the Audirvana blog this issue is mentioned: https://audirvana.com/?p=4048
Actually the only way is to patch/hack macOS Sierra with the file IOAudioFamily.kext from El Capitan in /system/library/extension. In my case I didn't install macOS Sierra on my macbook since it's mainly used to play audio files. I'm waiting for a correction from Apple.
Thanks !!
You're welcome.
sudo command isn't available as you describe. When I enter "sudo crsutil disable" (without the quotes) I get
sudo: command not found
Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated.
Sorry, I transposed letters of the command:
"sudo csrutil disable" (not "crsustil")
Sorry about that error!!
The command should be: "sudo csrutil disable"
Sorry for leading folks astray with transposed letters in the command!
Hello,
I followed all the instructions, but at the end when I start up Audirvana there is not available audio device.
Do you have some recommendations?
