iPod Nano Screen Really Messed Up

My iPod screen is dark. When i'm sitting under a bright light or using it outside, the screen reflects a rainbow (like when someone presses their thumb down on a computer screen and it leaves a dark mark...except I didn't do that on my iPod). It's basically a sun spot on my iPod that screens get when it's left in the heat...but I didn't. Will Apple replace it? I don't know what caused it. I keep my iPod safe in case and never in hot places.

Any help will be greatly appreciated!!!

Hi,
same exact symptom happened to my nano screen, though i run with it frequently and on the average we have 20 degree weather, burrr! Thought maybe it was a temp. problem with the screen being to cold?

Anyway, any news with yours?

No not yet.

However, I don't cold temperatures will cause the LSD screen to do become damaged. Maybe the iPod ran hot and damaged the screen? I don't know. Hopefully more people will help us out. Thanks for the response!

Screen damage is a tricky thing. Apple does replace screens, but not very often. It could be a heat issue if you charge in the case (just about everybody does) but Apple will look for just about any reason for potential damage caused by the user. If you hve any evidence of damage they will not replace it either. My best advice is to take it to an apple store if you can and see if they will replace it for you or go here http://depot.info.apple.com/ipod/
You never know, maybe they will.

but if not you can replace the screen yourself for well under 20 dollars and it is not that hard of a thing to do if you have any mech skill. But only do that if it is off warranty or they will not repair it for you. when you turn on your ipod do you still see the mark? i have the same thing when its in light except when i turn it on you cant see it.

Actually, I have the opposite problem. When it's off you cannot see the mark, but when it's on, you can.

Thank you so much! So do I just take it to the Apple store and they will fix it (hopefully) if I have warranty. My iPod is in pretty good condition (minor scratches on the back) so it doesn't look like it has been misused.

I would, it is up to them of course, but a nice smile and a contrite heart and most will really try to help you. They do not repair at the apple store, but they might exchange it or at least send it in for you. You never know until you try.
