Selecting the fastest wireless network?

I have a Netgear router and a WiFi extender. When I click on my WiFi icon there are several of my own networks available. Does the computer automatically select the fastest with the best reception? Or, should I get an app to check the different networks?

Hi,

I also have a Netgear router and it chooses which network to use by itself, so I suspect it's choosing the one with better reception.

2 key words: "I suspect" which is another way of saying i assume,

Obviously there is a correct answer but we don't know it yet.

Thanks for getting me to look at that sys pref screen again. I had missed the drag preference.

BTW it was fun removing all the networks I had used when traveling!

When you have more than one Router that you control, you can combine modern Routers into one "Roaming Network", and your Mac will move freely and easily to the fastest connection. If you move around your house, it will hand off from one to another to get the fastest connection it can get.

You combine your Routers by giving them all the same network-name, and the same password. That's it, there is nothing more complex needed.
