iPhoto skipping certain photos when importing

iPhoto skipping certain photos when importing

When I plug my iPhone into my laptop to import photos/videos into iPhoto, some photos/videos are importing successfully but a block of photos and videos aren't importing. iPhoto doesn't even seem to recognize that these photos/videos are on my phone.

Example: I just did an import of all items from the phone to iPhoto. The most recent 4 photos/videos imported, but about three weeks' worth of photos/videos taken prior to that would not import. It's as if iPhoto can't see anything I took in those three weeks.

Some photos are importing, but not all of them. Anyone have any ideas why this is happening?

I have an iPhone 6 and a MacBook Pro Retina running El Capitan. The iPhone is fully updated.

MacBook Pro (Retina, Mid 2012), OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.5)

Bizarrely, I had this same problem, with that exact same date range! I had to go into iPhone and manually select each picture that I wanted to import, then select "iCloud photo sharing" on the phone, wait for them to show up in iPhoto on the computer, then select "Import all new photos" on the "Import" tab at the top. It took awhile, but it worked - I got all the desired photos off my phone to my computer. Not sure why it skipped this particular date range during the automatic import, but this appears to be a viable work-around.

Kevin, this is bizarre - I have the exact same problem with photos taken in that SAME timeframe! I took tons of pictures at my niece's wedding in India that was held the week of Nov. 24. NONE of those pictures will import to iPhoto. All my old ones will, and any new ones will, but none from that week will import. It's like they are not even on my phone, but they are!

No. It was a mix of unedited photos and videos.

Can you access them with Image Capture (in the Applications Folder)?

No. The most recent photos/videos show up (from Dec. 9-12), but all the ones between Nov. 17 and Dec. 9 are not there. I can see and access them all on my iPhone, however.
