How to change 'my number' on iPhone 7

I was getting text messages saying 'who is this' after porting my number from Vodafone to BT. When I checked my number at the head of 'my contacts' it said the temporary BT number.

iPhone 7 Plus, iOS 10.1.1

Hi

To change your phone number, go to: Settings > Phone > My Number.

Also check your details in your contact card in the Contacts app.

Yes this worked although to update the number at the top of my contacts I had to switch the phone off and on again
