news widget gone

Jasper you did it. I got the News back. Thanks man. So basically i needed to change the region to US in Apple ID in order to download the Apple News. Then I have to go to Settings to change my region back to Canada in order to get local content. Finally!

I read one of the post and they were saying that it works, I have pasted their comments below.

Everyone’s saying seems correct.

News widget is available at AppStore with the name ‘Apple News’.

But, it looks available only if your Apple ID’s country/region is set to ‘United States’.

So, I think this trouble is specific to users whose country/region is outside of ‘United States’.

I’m also the one who met this trouble.

I opened AppStore, tap ‘Apps’ button, tap user icon and changed my Apple ID’s country/region to ‘United States’ and backed to AppStore, tap ‘Search’ and typed ‘Apple News’, then I could find and reinstalled it. After I restored my original country/region, the news contents also changed for my country.

Yea, i went to setting then iTunes and App Store then on top Apple ID then changed country/region to US. I made sure my Apple ID was on US country/region.

Later I opened App Store, selected search tab then I entered “Apple news” and hit search button, after it appeared on the search list I clicked on it and then installed the app news. After that I changed my Apple ID country/region to my original country.

When I got to the credit card and billing info page, I didn’t modify anything, but just switched back to the App Store and searched for Apple News. I downloaded it (since it’s free and needs no billing info) and then switched back to my settings and fixed my billing info for Canada again.

Simply change the app store region to US, download the news app and again revert back to your original region.

Try changing your country to United States in settings.

n this manner, in the future, even if you mistakenly delete the news app, if you cant find news app on your current region App Store, still you can go to purchase history from App Store and download the news app.

I am really sorry to hear that this method didn’t work, but did you really try changing to US Store and try searching for the app in App Store? Because Apple news app is only available in 3-4 stores including US. Actually I tried this method for some other app and worked . I thought it would work for Apple news app as well.

There is another way to make apple news widget available again. Go to setting-general-reset-erase all contents and settings. Remember to setup iPhone as new and not to restore from the backup.

I also had my news widget disappear however the news app in question is no longer available on the App Store- I am not happy!!

I am in the exact same boat. I accidently unimstalled Apple News, now I cannot get news in the widget view. Trying to get it back, but the App Store has many news apps that I dont really wish to run. I just want the IOS Apple News.. Help plz.

I tried changing the Regions, and look into the history. But I did not buy it, it came as part of the IOS, it does not show in the purchase history. I suspect because it was a part of the IOS, Apple does not let it be downloaded from the Store.

Has anyone successfully found and re-installed any app that was removed from the original IOS?

That’s awesome man!!!😃!! And if you mistakenly delete the app next time, before changing Your Apple ID region to US to download news app, first try searching news app in the purchase history from App Store, it should be there now.

okay, didn’t realize that there were two places to change country.

but when I tried to change country in itunes/app store settings it wanted a US address and valid credit card associated with that address??

how did you deal with that.

Sorry to be such a pain.

Changing the region does not work because it forces you to enter payment details for iCloud when changing regions and my credit card billin address is not from the US so it won’t let me enter it, meaning I cannot change the region.

I really need my news back. I didn’t even delete it, my phone was out l storage and it asked if wanted to delete unused apps. So it deleted automatically even though I read the news about ten times a day.
