ipod touch 5th generation, hard factory reset without password

How do I perform a factory reset to wipe the entire ipod clean, and start back over as it is brand new out of the box WITHOUT HAVING THE ITUNES PASSWORD? This is an ipod I have from my father who recently passed? I really need to start this thing over.

Communities updatesTry:

1. If you have a computer you can connect your iPod to iTunes.

2. Press and hold the home and power buttons until iTunes comes up with a message asking if you want to restore or update.

3. Click the restore button.

4. After your iPod has been restored, you should be able to create a new Apple Id.

If restoring your iPod using iTunes doesn’t work try:

1. Try to remember the pass code that your father put on the iPod touch.

2. If the iPod doesn’t have a pass code you can reset by going to settings>general>reset>erase all content and settings.

3. If that doesn’t work, try erasing the iPod using find my iPhone. Go to http://www.iCloud.com and sign in with the Apple Id.

Hope this helps.
