font book won't install fonts in el capitan

Trying to install custom OTF fonts in El Capitan. I select a font, click install, font book appears to do something, the font is not installed. What am I supposed to do?

Thanks for the quick response. And by "custom" I just mean foundry typefaces I paid very good money for! I should have said "3rd party" maybe?

Solution found: FontBook requires a reboot before it will recognise the fonts it has just installed. That surprises me, and I hope it surprises you too for its lousy design 🙂 But hey that's Apple these days. "If it ain't broke, it will be soon."
