In iOS 10.2, is there no local storage of TV & movies?

I have been playing around with the new TV app in iOS 10.2. It seems that this app will not allow local storage (on the device itself) of movies or TV shows - meaning, it insists on sharing everything via one's Apple ID. Is this true? I can't find any option within the TV app to access TV shows or movies that are stored *on the device itself* - all the app will let me access is stuff that I have *purchased*. Is this the intent?

The only reason I ask this is because when I travel, I'm often faced with hotel WiFi access that isn't very fast, so I would prefer to watch stuff that is actually stored on my iDevice rather than try to rely on an Internet connection to view it.

Apple Support appears to be aware of the issues with the new TV App.

This app has some major bugs and issues/oversights.

However, no one here knows how much user feedback has been submitted about this issue.

You can help all of us with getting these issues fix sooner than later by submitting your feedback here.

The more people that submit and continuosly submit feedback on this issue, the faster Apple can get a fix out as another iOS update.

Good Luck!

It appears that you can download content from iTMS to your device, but you *can't* sync movies or TV shows from the iTunes app (which still, in the 12.5.4.42 update, thinks it needs the Videos app to sync video content:

User uploaded file

I sent feedback to Apple about this, as it's so much easier and faster to sync than download, but I don't think it's fixed yet.

If this means anything, I've found the reason for my specific problem: I actually didn't have any videos synced from iTunes in the first place...

I thought I did, since I fired up my iPad and checked 'About...' and it said I still had some videos on the device. However I failed to remember that these were videos I had taken with my iPhone and had placed into my iPhoto library. Meaning, these weren't TV shows or movies that were synced from iTunes.

Much apologizings for the confusion...anyway I haven't had the time to actually try to sync some shows or movies from iTunes since I discovered this issue (and thus I can't yet reproduce the problem that ADC just described) but I will get on it as soon as possible.

Fixed!. But it takes a little drudge work. Most of my videos were not from iTunes. Either ripped from DVDs I own, or home made videos. So they were listed under Home Videos. Something in the 10.2 update process moved them to the Movies folder in iTunes but did not update the library file. So iTunes could not find them during sync. Here's the fix. In iTunes open Movies or Home Videos (depending on where the videos were before). Switch to List view. In the left most column you will see an exclamation point by the missing videos. Double click on that video. You will get a dialog saying the video can't be found. Click the Locate button. Then navigate to the (in my case) Movies folder. Navigate to the video in question and double click it. Another dialog will come up asking if you want iTunes to look in that location for other missing videos. Click Cancel. (Each video is in it's own folder. It will mess up even more locations if you click OK.) The video will start to play. So X out. Do this for every video that's missing. (That's the drudge part.)
