I have exactly the same issue. It starts about 2 weeks ago.
A vertical blue line of approximately 1 pixel.
I've tried to get some information about this particular problem and found out that could only be the display itself (or maybe the graphic card, but i doubt about it). Anyway, the reparation will cost me €700 (for a new display), while the whole computer is now shipping for €1099 ⚠.
I'm only 2(!) weeks out of warranty, and can't accept that Apple reject the responsability of such an issue.
On the other end, they foresee an extension support for some issues that occured in the past with a specific range serial numbers (of couse, mine is not one of them).
So I think that maybe the best idea is to wait a little while, untill other users will start to get the same problem (I even think that's not going to take long), so we can all confront Apple with this problem.
I've bought my Imac a year ago (so are you, I presume), and I can't imagine that this can be a coïncidence.

PS: By the way, I've found on this forum the same display issue by a whole group of IBooks users. Coïncidence again ?

im having this problem and i think there's no way except if its still under warranty or u have the applecare and since i dont have any of both of them then i wont buy a screen for 700€, i will just keep it as it is, but the price should be less than that, 700€ is too much !!
i really don't know what im suppose to do !
anyways thanks for ur help & enjoy the blue line hehe

For me a blue line appeared out of nowhere about 1 week after warrrenty. and then today, another one just appeared last night right in the middle of the screen. its the absolute most irrtating thing on earth and i am NOT going to pay over a thousand dollars to get that fixed! aggh. apple needs to fix this. and we all had this problem at about the same time?..... conspiracy anybody? 0_0.....

my one also has the same problem but in green line, i dialed to my local support centre for help and they said this is a rarely seen problem and only encourage me to buy the APP, since my one year warrenty is nearly expired. But after seen your posts, it is quite obvious that the product itself is defective.

i don't think we should bear the loss to pay for this replacement, this is their manufacturing problems, since no consumers will expect they bought the computer or the device can only with such a limited life-span.

Also, i just have a question for the Apple that they have produce many kinds of Mac products and sell to the worldwide market successfully, how could they strengthen their business reputation, if their products are always need to be recall for exhange or repair?

Me, again !
Still investigating....

I think that it should be interesting to compare our serial numbers.
In the extension programs for repair by Apple, they give in some IMac serials who had showned the same issue with the power supply.
If there is an issue with the screen itself within the same range of serials, we could really start something !

Mine starts with : W8545-------

Lines .. vertical ones, first one now five of various colours. Warranty has expired (purchased Nov 2005). The hardware test disk didn't indicate any issues. Before I drag the machine into the Apple store (shudder), does anyone know of anything else I can do? I read that the issue might be common to a range of serial numbers, however mine starts W8543 ...

Hello everybody,
I'm momx3, macmanlex is my husband. We are having the same problem with our iMac G% (iSight). I homeschool our three sons and we use our mac a lot. This was bought in Nov 2005. When we first got it we noticed after about a month that iSight was messed up. So much so that we had to reset the SMU frequently. Our warranty was up this past November 2006. We took it into an authorized apple retailer here in town. The only Apple Store close is a three hour round-trip drive. They told us it was the logic board and replaced it. We brought it home and after a month it started going nuts. The display would have these little weird lines, bars, hard to describe. We took it back to them. They said it was the logic board, again. So they ordered a 2nd logic board replacement. We brought it home and again, after a month, it did the same thing. On February 2nd 2007 we had to take it back in again. They said it was the logic board again so they ordered another one. This past Friday, Feb 9, 2007, they called us and said they got the logic board in and replaced it. However it was also bad. Keep in mind this was the 3rd one they had put in. Now we are waiting on them to put in a fourth one. In the meantime I am without a computer for school for my children, not to mention the times I have had to pack the computer up and lug it all the way across town. I called and spoke with a Product Specialist at Apple this past Monday. He said they decided on a case by case basis when to replace computers. I would say after three failed attempts to fix it they should replace it. Don't you? What have you all done? Does anyone have any advice for me? I tried to be nice on the phone but now I wonder if I should have argued with them or if I should call back and argue. He told me this was very RARE with these computers. After reading all of these posts I'd say he was very WRONG. LOL
