upload iphoto library to icloud

Hello

I've finished to upload my "Photo" Library from my Macbook Pro to iCloud (with the automatic upload :16 000 pictures and videos from 2011 to 2016).

I have moved my previous library (pictures from 2000 to 2010) on an external hard drive, but as an old "Iphoto" Library (not "Photo") . Can I use the same procedure to automatically upload this libray to iCloud ? and How ?

thanx for your help

iPhoto '11, iOS 10.1.1

Create a Photos library from your old iPhoto Library by dragging this library onto the Photos icon in the Dock. When this library opens in Photos, make it your Sytem Photo library in the Photos Preferences > general tab. Then enable it as your iCloud Photo Library in Photos Preferences. > iCloud.

wat for the Photos to upload. Then click your previous Photos library on your system drive and make this again your system Photo library and your iCloud Photo Library. photos will merge iPhoto photos from iCloud into your photos library on the internal drive.

IF Photos cannot open the iPhoto Library to migrate it, the iPhoto version may be too old. Then you have to prepare the library with the iPhoto lopibrary upgrades tool. This is necessary for libraries created with iPhoto 7.1.5 or older.

I cannot take the albums out of this folder. I tried to do it directly this on Photo but again, all albums are disorganized once out of the folder...

How did you do that?

It is easy to drag a few albums from one folder to another in Photos. This is best done in the sidebar. You can drag directly to the folder, where you want the albums to go.

Also, in Photos you can ctrl-click a folder and select "Sort" to sort the albums inside by date or by title.

But the sorting does not necessarily sync to the iPhone or iPad or iCloud. Photos on iPad, iPhone, in iCloud is much more limited than Photos on a MAc.
