I Tried to update, but it will not verify the update saying that I'm not connected to the internet. All apps connect to internet just fine. What gives? Is there a problem with 3.1.1 and you are preventing the update? If so, you should give us notice that a fix will be coming.

I'm having the same problem. I just updated my phone to iOS 10.2. The watch app is saying unable to verify watchOS 3.1.1 because I am not connect to the internet. But Airport utility confirms I am connected and all other apps can access the internet.
I'm happy for you, but no go here.
Didn't have notification of 10.2 update being available. Checked, found it was available, and installed it. All done over WIFI, but watch app says still not connected to internet.
10.1.1 wouldn't install it, now 10.2 continues to refuse to connect to the internet via WIFI for the watch update. (But finds it for other apps!)

Apple has issued the following statement:
"A very small number of Apple Watch customers experienced an issue while installing watchOS 3.1.1, so as a precaution we've pulled back the software update. Any customers impacted should contact AppleCare, but no action is required if the update installed successfully. We are working on a fix for an upcoming software update."
