Delay in iPad Air connecting to wifi when switched on

When I switch on my iPad it has always connected instantly to my wifi.

However, it has now started to taking one minute, often longer, to connect.

I cannot see anything different to my wifi or iPad settings that would cause this delay and my software is update.

Any idea what might be causing the issue?

Thank you

iPad Air Wi-Fi, iOS 10.2, (Nov 2013)

Hello, Jerry Dammers.

I understand there's a delay when connecting to your Wi-Fi on the iPad. I've got several suggestions to try for this matter, but to clarify it's only the iPad that's having this trouble correct? If so, check out the following:

First, try connecting to other Wi-Fi networks (if possible) see if the issue happens there as well. If it doesn't, I've got two steps to look at.

1. Forget the network and reconnect.
2. Try resetting network settings, the link here shows how: If your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch won’t connect to a Wi-Fi network

Reset your Network Settings. Tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings. This also resets Wi-Fi networks and passwords, cellular settings, and VPN and APN settings that you’ve used before.

Here's another helpful resource: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points

Let me know if this helps.
