iPhone7 Proximity Sensor Not Working

I have an iPhone7 (Verizon) with iOS 10.2.

I have noticed that my proximity sensor is not working. When I make a phone call and raise the phone to my ear, the display does not black out. So what happens is my ear will presses the screen buttons and occasionally I have accidentally hung up.

What have I tried so far?

1. Rebooted multiple times.

2. Erased settings and reset phone.

Can someone help with a fix? I'm not sure if it is a hardware issue at this point. I have not dropped or damaged the phone in anyway.

I am working around this issue by using a Bluetooth ear piece.

Please help!

Since I've personally had this issue, before you go to your local Apple Store, I suggest you to check following things:

  1. Are you using a case for yr iPhone? Try to put the phone out of the case ,
  2. Are you using a screen protector? Try to uninstall it.
  3. Verify that your display is perfectly cleaned.

Make a phone call, and put one of your fingers to cover the proximity sensor.

If the display doesn't turn black, you might really have a hardware issue, and you'd better have your iphone checked.

I was in condition number 2 and I was desperate.... but luckily it was only a bad screen protector problem (I bought and installed a different screen protector).

Regards.
