iTunes 64bit (Older video cards) problem

Hi,

I Have a new computer With Windows 7 64bit.

all the time I used the spesial version of iTunes (for older video cards) until 12.4.3 version,

But now there is a new version 12.5.4 an there is not spesial build for the "Older video cards".

And now I can't use iTunes in my computer.

I tried to uninstall al the Apple Inc applications from my computer an install the new iTunes again but it's not helped, It's still the same problem. It's just not working!

So, What can I do now ?

According to Apple the more recent builds of 64-bit iTunes for Windows have got around the issues that created the need for the "for older video cards" versions. Try a complete tear down of all installed Apple software then install the current 64-bit release.

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.

The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach.

Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.

The further information area has direct links to the current and recent builds in case you have problems downloading, or want to revert to an older version if the current one won't work properly for you at the moment.

Your library and device backups should be unaffected by these steps but there are links to backup and recovery advice should it be needed.

Such errors can usually be fixed by deleting the offending dll, then repairing the component it is part of from the programs and features control panel. CoreAudioToolbox.dll is part of Apple Application Support and can normally be found in

  • C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support or
  • C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support

where the name of the Program Files folder may vary by region.

Apple may have fixed the video playback issue, but they are still ignoring the Outlook sync issue with 32-bit versions of Outlook. The "for older video cards" versions of iTunes, which is essentially the 32-bit version of iTunes, was the only workaround for this. The 64-bit version of iTunes installs the "OutlookChangeNotifierAddIn.dll" in the 64-bit Program Files directiory in windows, which 32-bit Outlook cannot see. Thus the Sync process crashes. Way to go Apple, you broke our only workaround for Outlook sync issues.

I assume it would work with 64-bit Outlook. Since I don't own a 64-bit version of Outlook, and have absolutely no need for one, that's not an option. The simplest fix would be for Apple to just ease up on the "control everything" attitude and just let us install the 32-bit version of iTunes on 64-bit Windows. We know what we're doing, and it costs them zero resources.

Time for some iTunes Feedback I suspect. Clearly it must have taken some resources to generate and test three different variations of the same build of the application on each release, but they may not have identified all of the problems of dropping down to two.

Perhaps you can use the steps in Install missing components to install each of the 32-bit components without using the installer.

I've submitted feedback multiple times over the last year without even an acknowledgement of the problem. I submitted again, but doubt it will lead to any action.

Are you suggesting we manually install the 32-bit components in addition to the 64-bit components? Or uninstall the individual 64-bit components? This sounds like it would lead to all sorts of trouble with 64-bit iTunes.

Hmmm. Or are you suggesting we extract the individual MSIs from the 32-bit installer and install all of them this way including 32-bit iTunes as a way around the installer? That might work, now that I think of it. I'll have to give it a try when I have another half day to waste on this. Thank you for the suggestion. Now to figure out how to get my hands on the 32-bit version, since the website will refuse to let me download it from my 64-bit machine.

Yes. See the iTunes installers section of my user tip for direct downloads.
