iOS Mail Automatic Event Detection & Calendar Event Creation
My question pertains specifically to iPhone 7 Plus running iOS 10 but also may be applicable to other device and iOS versions.
I am confused about the iOS automatic email event detection and calendar event creation feature which scans inbound emails and creates corresponding event entries within the calendar specified as "Default" within Settings->Calendar/Default. I'd be grateful for answers and advice pertaining to the following questions:
- Am I correct to believe the master enable/disable setting for event detection and creation for inbound emails is Settings->Calendar/Events Found in Apps?
- Third party apps (like Microsoft Office Outlook) supports similar functionality. Understanding that Microsoft iOS apps do not fall within the purview of Apple support, does anyone know how if the two similar features running in parallel reconcile to avoid creating duplicate calendar entries resulting from events each app detects from the same original email(s)?
- The native iOS Mail app displays a helpful banner across the top of each email containing detected events which one may use to view the corresponding Calendar Events or manually add Calendar Event entries. However, deleting the corresponding calendar events (deliberately or inadvertently) also causes this banner to disappear within the original email as it isn't needed or wanted. Other than requesting and receiving a duplicate of the original email, does a method exist for manually re-scanning individual emails, email folders or entire accounts?
Many thanks in advance for any helpful information or guidance.
