How to create a mail merge document with pages and numbers

I can't believe that this isn't more obvious. After lots of searching on the web, I have not been able to find a workable solution to this issue. I want to create a form letter, merge data from a numbers spreadsheet to customize it, and save each record to a new document as pdf. This was not difficult with Word, but seems to be impossible using pages?

I've added placeholder text and saved my letter as a template. No clue as to where to go next. I tried downloading an app from iworkautomation.com but it would not pull my tags on the placeholder text.

I read another tutorial that suggested using the link inspector to choose the source for my merge, but can't find the link inspector anywhere.

I must be missing something! Can anyone help me!?

The site jammed me from finishing my post, so here it is in proper context.

Apple omitted any built-in Mail/Data merge in all releases of Pages v5 and v6. That third-party Mail/Data merge solution from iworkautomation dot com is written in custom code, and solely supported by its author — if still supported by him, and not by the rest of us.

If you already have access to Pages '09 v4.3, which has built-in Mail/Data merge, then use it. Otherwise, use MS Word, based on your prior experience

I have been using a great little free app called Pages Data Merge. However, since updating to OS 10.12.2, I get a permissions error so it won't work. The app developer points to a bug in the latest OS update (which I of course found out too late). I also can't open up iWork '09. I only tried it just now in response to this post, so I don't know when that started.

Are Apple deliberately trying to sabotage their so-called 'productivity suite'?

You are missing a dependent shared library needed by Pages '09 v4.3. So what lead up to this?

  1. Clean install of macOS Sierra that destroyed the iWork '09 DVD dependent libraries installed in system locations?
  2. Tried to reinstall iWork '09 DVD functionality from a Time Machine backup?
  3. Installed the Apple iWork 9.3 updater over iWork '09 application(s) originally purchased in the Mac App Store?

Each of the above would cause Pages '09 v4.3 to explode. The download, and installation of Pages v6.0.5 has absolutely nothing to do with this issue.
