Tips for arranging stills in order in timeline

I'm looking for the most efficient way to quickly arrange stills in slideshows.

1. I use iPhoto and it is easy to arrange stills in the order I want them. What are the advantages or disadvantages of creating a sideshow in iPhoto and then importing iPhoto's QuickTime movie into FCP?

2. I tried to use iPhoto to arrange stills for FCP by using the Photos/Batch Change/Title/Text command. Unfortunately, when I exported the newly named stills into FCP 5.1.2, it would put 10 ahead of 2. Is there some way to use iPhoto?

3. I know if you open your photo bin in FCP and arrange the stills in columns and rows, then drop them into the time line, it will arrange them in the order you have put them, but that process takes so much time if you have a large number of stills.
