Airdrop not working in Sierra 10.12.2

I had the same issue and chatted with Apple Support. After determining that I had done everything, all settings on computer and phone were correct (as well as restarting twice) they had me Reset the System Management Controller (SMC) on your Mac - Apple Support (just the reset in the middle of the page) and it fixed the issue.

I tried resetting SMC on my Mac Pro - it did not help. The computer can receive airdrops from iOS devices, but to make an airdrop from the Mac Pro, I have to unplug the ethernet cable first.

This is very unlike Apple.

A related problem is that when your Mac has both ethernet and wifi connections, you cannot answer phone calls on your Mac unless you give a higher priority to wifi connection than to ethernet. This issue still has not been fixed

That is not true.

Silly question possibly... but have you turned off WiFi on both Macs, then restarted both Macs and then turned WiFi back on? You also might want to restart your WiFi base station. Freshening up all of the connections usually will give good results. No promises but give it a try.

You are misreading what Tom said. He did not make it work on Ethernet. What he did say is that unplugging then replugging his Ethernet connection affected his AirDrop performance. Ethernet is hard wire; AirDrop cannot work over a wire.

I have the exact same problem. I updated my two iPads and iPhone to 10.2 and the iMac and 2013 MacBook Pro to 10.12.2 and now cannot Airdrop any files to the three iOS devices. No problem Airdropping to 2013 MacBook Pro or the mac mini. All three iOS devices Airdrop to the Macs as designed. My 2016 MacBook Pro (arrived yesterday) is still on 10.12.1 and does Airdrop as designed.

In short, it is the older MacBook and the iMac (27" late 2013), both on 10.12.2, that won't behave properly. Yes, all the usual things have been checked with regard to who is allowed and Bluetooth being on, etc... Could there be a change in Bluetooth brought in by the 10.12.2 update that is upsetting this particular Apple cart??

Same problem here. After today's 10.12.2 update I can't Airdrop from my Mac Mini to iPad or iPhone.

Bottom right on the finder - airdrop window "Don't see who you are looking for?

Then "Search for an older mac"

After the 10.12.2 update, the device shows up but any attempt to copy to it fails ("Waiting..." then "The transfer failed. Please try again.")

When clicking on that button you suggested, the device doesn't even show up.

As a followup.... I updated the new 2016 MacBook Pro (Yes, I love the Touchbar!) from 10.12.1 to 10.12.2. Guess what? It works just perfectly normal in doing Airdrop transfers to both Macs and iOS devices. Also, from the iMac to the 2016 MacBook works (so fast that I didn't see it; saw "sending" appear for a fraction of a second).

I hope Apple's techs are reviewing this discussion. There are other threads in Communities having this same discussion. Happy Holidays to all of you!
