Apple ID password not the same as y password for opening my Mac

I'm a little confused and slightly computer illiterate. I want to know why my "Apple ID password" is not he same password I use to sign on at starting to use my Mac. Thanks!

The password you sign into the computer with is your user password. While it doesn't have to be different than your Apple ID password, often it is. If you want, you can use the links below to set your user password to the same password as your Apple ID.
