I can't use emojis on touch bar of my macbook
I just received this message from Apple advisor:
ME:- Use the Touch Bar on your MacBook Pro
"I have studied this and there is no full explanation - check it yourself"
Kari
I am looking it over as we speak. It is designed to only use the emojis that you use most often. The other emojis - those that you do not use most - will still need to be accessed from the application itself.
Me:
what application?
Kari
On your Messages application, you should also see a smiley face on the edge of the text field that you use to write in. If you click on that it will bring up the expanded list of emojis.
Kari
In Mail and other applications like Notes and such, you can actually find the Emojis list by going to Edit > Emoji & Symbols.
Kari
That will bring up a little popup window that has all of the emojis that are available on that application.
so the touch only shows and allows access to to Frequently used emoji's
Kari
Yep! The touchbar is to allow you easy access to your most often used emojis.
Kari
The others are easily accessed either with the emoji icon in the text field or by using the Edit menu on one of the other applications.
I am experiencing the same thing. When I type something in the text field in messages, and tap on the touch bar, the emojis disappear. The only way I can get them to return, is by closing the Messages app, and re-opening it.
So it's not just him.
I made my touch bar go black when I tried sliding up towards the screen thinking this might expose all emoji's - wrong, I just touched fn(function) and all was returned. From my chat dialogue:

The Apple advisor offered nothing. This is a problem with touchbar and should be fixed. It is clearly not true that the emojis icon will bring up even the often used icons. It brings up nothing but a dead touchbar. Thanks for posting your conversation with Apple!
Instead of tapping the smiley emoji (since the touchbar may go black), press and hold your finger down on the smiley for about 3 seconds. This brought up the full emoji list on the touchbar, and when I tapped on it later it kept them! You may have to do this regularly. I don't know if it will stop working again or not.

(I'm not sure how Apple gets the information to us, so I'm hoping replying to a few people will help.)

I had this same question when I got my MBP with Touch Bar and was informed by Apple "Only recent or regular emoji's show on the Touch Bar the full set, whatever you are in, are shown at the bottom of the "Edit" 'drop down' menu on the menu bar. I have had a MBP for the past five years and I'm amazed at finding new things nearly every day....

Actually I am in the text field and typing in messages and when I clicked the emoji link on the touchbar the bar went black. Many people are experiencing this.
you have to be in a text field, typing. This works specifically with mail and messages, so try to do so if you have not already. for further information, refer to here
I am experiencing this and have been since shortly after I purchased my MacBook. I have been checking the forums to find a fix and nothing has helped so far. Disappointing.
I'm hoping by replying to your post, my voice will be heard that this is a problem with the touchbar. It needs to be fixed. Really, when, other than in Messages, would an adult need emojis? 🙂
I queried this same subject when I got my MBP with Touch bar and was told by Apple "Only resent or
