Does the Apple Watch connect to iTunes?

Sorry if this is an ignorant question but I'm new to the Apple Watch - and since my new Apple Watch (series 2) doesn't have any documentation I'm not sure where else to ask. I've had iPhones and iPads for years - when I plug these into my Windows 10 PC iTunes immediately recognizes them. When I plug in the Apple Watch, I get nothing. Windows makes the sound that it recognizes a device was plugged in but unlike other new Apple devices there was no "installing device drivers" or any recognition by my latest version of iTunes (12.5.4.42). I can unplug the watch and plug in my iPhone 7 or my iPad Pro and iTunes recognizes them immediately. So I was thinking, given the lack of documentation, that you don't really manage the Apple Watch with iTunes like you do with other mobile devices? It pairs with my iPhone perfectly - just trying to figure out if there is integration with iTunes.
