What can subscribers to a public Calendar see?

When sharing a Calendar publicly there's some info stating "Allow anyone to subscribe to a read-only version of this calendar". I don't know how to test this best myself so I'd like to reach out and ask here.

Can anyone who subscribes to my public Calendar see all past events or only current and future events?

Is there a way to incorporate a subscription link into my email signatures with an image or on a website?

Thanks!

Hey BassPlaya!

Thanks for reaching out about shared calendars. I can understand the importance of knowing how much of your information is shared, so I'd be happy to provide all the insight I can.

When it comes to shared calendars, setting it as publicly viewable will allow anyone subscribed to view the contents of that calendar - including all past, present, and future events listed on it. Those subscribed individuals will be able to view the calendar in exactly the same way that you can; the only caveat being that they're unable to add, edit, or remove anything on the calendar if they're set to "read-only".

Unfortunately, there isn't a way to embed a subscription link into a signature, since invites have to manually be sent by you. Theoretically, you could include the option to be invited as your signature - something to the effect of "if you're interested in viewing my calendar, please indicate so and the desired email address to be invited" - which would allow you to garner interest and invite those that request it. That would be the only option that doesn't incorporate a third-party, though. Here's some general information about shared calendars for your future reference:

Hopefully I've been able to elaborate on the shared calendar experience in a way that helps you to decide how you'd like to proceed. If there's anything else you want to know that isn't covered in the above link, feel free to follow-up so I can address it for you. Have a great day!

Ok. I figured it out myself and IT DOES WORK! Yay!
@ sterling r: I tried it out myself and asked someone with an iCloud account to see if she was able to import it in her calendar and it does work. AND they get to see all past events as well. Basically, I created a hyperlink from the "webcal://p48-calendars.icloud.com/published/2/K2Q0z..." link that was provided by right clicking on the specified calendar and clicking "Share calendar ..." ticking "public calendar", right clicking on the URL and copy the link. Then create a hyperlink in html and paste the code onto your blog or what have you. And there you go. It works. Yay!
