iTunes could not connect to iPhone because an invalid response was received from the device

When attempting to synchronize my iPhone to iTunes for the first time -I get this message: "iTunes could not connect to the IPhone because an invalid response was received from the device"

Typically means your iTunes version is not current enough for your iOS version.

So, if your iOS is at v10.x, iTunes needs to be at version 12.5.x
