Every time I open mail, it crashes within a few seconds. Using an imac with OS 10.6.8.

error message shows:

I'm having the same issue on two of our Macs. I think maybe Microsoft have made a change to Exchange Online that's caused incompatibility with Mail 4.6 on Mac OS 10.6.8. I've opened a support case with them to confirm.

In the meantime, I'm looking at installing Outlook 2011 for Mac onto those affected to work around the issue.

Did you have any luck resolving your issue, @iamthegoat2?

Hey BDAqua,

I'm having the same issue as the guy above. My address book has been crashing for a while, but I've ignored it/not used it as much. However, my Mail was fine until today when it started crashing on launch.

I did what you said (Repair permissions in Safe Mode) and Mail still kept crashing. When I turned off the internet, the program ran just fine. When I created a new log in account and entered one of my other emails, the program worked fine as well.

This has led me to conclude that apple mail is crashing due to the certificate of my domain email server. I put that it should trust the certificate, but it didn't change anything.

Could you please advise what to do next?

Also would be curious to know why the address book has been crashing as well.

Thanks for your help.

Now my Address book app also crashes on launch. It opens, shows the address book, then crashes. This message on crash:

Crashed Thread: 2 Dispatch queue: com.apple.root.default-priority

Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.

(Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive & clear caches.)

If Mail & ABook still crash, try disconnecting from the internet & starting them.

To find out if it's system wide or user specific, try this...

Open System Preferences>Users & Groups, unlock the lock, click on the little plus icon, make a new admin account, log out & into the new account.

Does they work in the new account?
