Control V does not work for me. Why do I need to use that to copy and paste from Word?
Why do I need to use control + v to copy and paste from Word? That is not working.

Hi,
It's actually Command C to copy and Comman V to paste.
There are certain situations where the keyboard shortcuts in Word may
change; and they also could be used to act upon other factors in text
documents themselves. Control over tables, and other artifacts in Word
where other items get copied or pasted use other commands. See the
link from MS Word for Mac for keyboard shortcuts from Microsoft/Mac.
From a March 2016 'word for mac' support article they show command V
and control V but do not offer the reason for this variable; in other articles
the reason seems to be to control other action at a different level. And with
some versions of Word, the control over a portion of the page uses other
shortcuts; including the use of F-key shortcuts among others, to act upon
the field or other parts of the document beyond just copy/paste of content.
Tables and cells among other parts of the document also use shortcuts.
• Keyboard Shortcuts in Word 2016 for Mac - Word for Mac:
When working with Tables within Word documents, there are changes that
have issues in Word for Mac, read this MS community discussion to see this
had been ongoing. And does not appear to have seen quality resolution.
• Copy/Paste commands change - Mac ms office (Word 2011, forum) topic:
So to understand the issue in Word you may need to see if Microsoft has
finally chosen to resolve the problem in their coding for the Mac version.

Sorry to not be of much help in this matter. In my use of MS Word, I found
the best version is long out of popular use, MS Word 5.1a was best overall.
Good luck & happy trails! 🙂
You can also access Copy and Paste in the Edit menu.
Omg!!! Thank you so much!! You were correct, it is Command.
Thank you. You were very helpful in your explanation. It turns out Control V is wrong; it is Command V to copy/paste.
Thanks again
You're welcome. 🙂
Within MS Office are means to share content of other application sections
so some of their internal copy/paste/delete shortcuts may apply then...
{If you happen to be a user of those aspects of Office, and wanted to copy a
Cell or Table into another section, its best to be well-versed in their method.}
While I have Pages, Keynote, & Numbers (or parts thereof on older Macs)
would prefer to use the better AppleWorks from another era, if needed.
A few third-party word processor applications had often been better suited.
Good luck & happy trails! 🙂
