Swimming with BT Headset & A-Watch2

Good afternoon,

My goal is to swim with my Apple Watch 2 and listen to music while doing so.

I've successfully paired my Bluetooth Headset with my Apple Watch 2. Successfully loaded a playlist to the Apple Watch 2 (took ages but finally completed) - meaning I can successfully listen to music off the watch. It even works under the shower!

As soon as I jump in the pool it suddenly stops. I spend a bit playing around and trying to figure out WHY since both devices are waterproof 😉 I cam to realise that the Apple Watch 2 stops to play / stream the music to the headset if it's ca. 15-20cm under water, once I raise my arm out of the water it continues to play / stream.

Now the only thing I can think is that Bluetooth waves don't work underwater - but that's about it.

Any Ideas?

Thanks

Bluetooth uses a 2.4GHz signal, 2.4GHz is the same frequency that a microwave oven uses. How does a microwave oven work? The microwaves are absorbed by the WATER in the food which heats up as a result of the high-energy waves. Water (and the human body) are extremely effective absorbers of 2.4GHz waves. Hence the range of bluetooth in water is extremely (< inches) short.
