AirPods popping noise

Since getting the AirPods yesterday , I have noticed a faint popping/clicking noise that starts in the right then the left and is a single pop in each ear.

It happens when I open safari and bring up the keyboard , and I can replicate this every time. the noise does not change in volume if I increase the volume on my iPhone 7 plus.

its a very weird noise, but apart from that the AirPods work great, but it is annoying if I have the AirPods in and no music is playing because it seems to happen at random times as well

I've been having this issue with my MacBook pro... it's intermittent but you get at least one weird popping noise every 10 seconds or so. I use a 7+ and a 12.9" pro daily and connection to them seems fine... have even connected them to my AppleTVs and they work flawlessly... it must be something with MacOS?

I get a solitary pop / audio clipping effect every minute or so between my AirPods and iPhone 6s plus.

Happens when playing music or listening to podcasts.

Doesn't really annoy me on podcasts, but when playing music it seriously gets on my nerves.

Will see how it evolves over the next few weeks, still not worth going in for repair if I have to wait over a month for a replacement!

I've sent mine back for replacement. Ive also ordered a few more pairs and will compare them all then send back the ones that exhibit the same noise.

I haven't seen many other posts or news items anywhere else regarding this so I wonder if the problem is isolated.

Just as an update - I had a replacement pair sent to me today ( despite UPS delivering them to the wrong address and person, I eventually got them).

I no longer get the static pop or click on the new pair so can only assume the first pair were faulty.

It seems that Apple expedite replacements so there is no 6 week wait to get a new pair. I only waited a week.

I had the exact same issue, odd noises coming from the left airpod. There was also a time where the left one just wasn't recognised for a little bit then it came back. I can assure you that anything like that is not normal as I returned my old ones for a new pair and they work flawlessly. No popping sounds or disconnects. Highly recommended heading back to apple.

ok, been on chat for ages to Apple Support. Tried them with my iPhone 7 plus and iPad Pro and both exhibit the same strange noise.

They are going back for replacement.

I have had similar issues on the iPhone 7 plus. I don't think a replacement will fix it, it seems like it's probably software or the phone itself, I'm not sure which one it is yet. I'd be curious to hear about your replacement AirPods. Please post an update.

I think it's software related rather than hardware.

I've tested it on my iPhone 6plus and I get the same noise and also on my iPad Pro

However, on my iPhone 6 the problem doesn't happen.

Apple are replacing them but I've got to wait 6 weeks before I get a new pair

I have also paired the AirPods with my Mac and I still get the popping noise, so maybe a hardware issue after all.

Seems to happen just before sound begins to play in the AirPods, the quick pop in the right then in the left. Only happens once before audio begins playing.
