My Band will not lock into place

New Apple Watch. Installing M/L bottom band for sport and will not lock into place. Slides felreely back and forth. Tried to fix as suggested online in support. No luck. Back to Apple Store for replacement or any other suggestions?

Check that you have followed the directions here, including ensuring that the band is facing the right way and including carefully wiggling the band up and down a little, once it is centrally located:

If the issue persists, I suggest that you contact Apple Support (mail-in service may be available), make a Genius Bar reservation or visit an Apple Authorised Service Provider for assistance, including with a view to having your watch and/or band checked and serviced / replaced, if necessary:
