Device removed from apple id but still unable to unlock my iphone 5

I have removed my device from my apple id but still unable to unlock my device Iphone 5. Device shows that it is still associated with my apple id. when i enter my apple id and password it displays a message that this id cannot use to open this device.

What should I do?

You must erase it first, then remove from your account to turn off the activation lock.

How did you remove the device from your Apple ID? There are only 2 ways to do it if the device is Activation Locked to your Apple ID:

On the phone, go to Settings/iCloud and turn off Find my iPhone. This will require the password of the Apple ID the phone is locked to.
On any computer go to https://icloud.com/find. Log in with your Apple ID and password. Find your phone on the list of devices. Put it in Lost Mode, then remove it from your account. If you don't see the phone in the list it is not your Apple ID that it is locked to.

Now i have loged to icloud as u suggested. My device is being displayed. I have erased it but device status on my computer shows that its offline whereas the device is connected to wifi and online. I have already restarted it twice but is of no use. Further Help needed.
