I can't pair my Android Watch with my new iPhone 7 plus

Yes, I've downloaded the app. Matter of fact I've done it twice. It was suggested that I download a new version of Google. Then delete the Android Wear App....reset the watch and then download the Android Wear app a 2nd time. I did all that. The watch and phone gave the impression they were pairing...same number appeared on both phone and watch, however, after confirming the number keys the bluetooth setting on the phone and watch indicate it is "disconnected". Still dead in the water! Thanks however for your suggestion.
