I am in mexico on vacation. I purchased a telcel sim card and now my i message wont activate or work. I have checked time zone is correct. I changed Tel number to new number but it Still shows my old number under imessage and facetime. I have turned off imsg and facetime . Restarted device and turnwd back on. Did not work.

Just reset your Apple ID password and then reactivate iMessage and FaceTime with your new phone number. You can reset your password at appleid.apple.com
You'll need a international text plan for iMessage to work.
An international text will be send to Apple server for iMessage & FaceTime connections.
A iPhone supported carrier waived the charges.
Normally you connect to Wi-Fi to do iMessage & FaceTime overseas.
I have unlimited international texting and calling. The new sim card changed my telephone number to a mexican number. I am no longer able to i message to send local messages either. I can only text internationally and locally. No imessage. I sometimes have wifi access but i am wanting this for when i have no wifi. Thanks margaret
tried that it did not work either. earlier today i was momentarily able to send texts instead of imessage but now some of my contacts are undeliverable even with wifi. When i turn on my cell data it turns itself off for 3 times before staying on also. for some of my imessage contacts it starts out blue and then turns green and undeliverable. seems to be getting more unreliable. very frustrating
