stop garageband updates

I have an AT&T modem that only downloads 1 mbs (unbelievable !!)

Because of that, I avoid large or unnecessary updates.

I don't use or need GarageBand, but the App Store always shows that I have an update waiting.
I will never update it and really don't want to delete the program, either.

In older versions of the Mac OS, I could disable updates for applications I didn't use or need.

There is no such checklist in the current App Store (10.10.5 right now - can't download Sierra, because it would take 2-3 days on this brand new AT&T modem). And, yes, I know how to use a hotspot, that's not my issue.

I just don't want to every be prompted to update programs like GarageBand, that I don't use.

from the update list in your App sore you can RMB somewhere on the white space (anywhere w/o text) and choose "hide" to stop displaying them.

you can also go to your local Apple Store and download updates on their wireless for free. Or support your local coffee house or purveyor of coffee that does not give you a reaction as if "The Frog" from Courageous Cat is putting out a lit cigar directly on your heart and use their internet.

Thanks.

BTW, "hidding" the app does nothing else.

It still shows up as a waiting update.

And, worse, there is a red reminder on the app store icon in the dock.

That's the part that really annoys me, because it's my mother's computer.

I have taught her that every icon with a little red ball with a number need attention.

So, the App Store always has an update waiting, even when bidding the app.

I think I will delete Garageband and see what that does.

(I won't miss it, but someone else may. They will just have to install it themselves)

App Store is less sophisticated than it use to be !
