Apple 2m vs 1m cable charging.

Hello, i recently bought a 2m genuine apple cable for my iphone 7 plus.

what i found out is rather disappointing as i'v read online that there shouldn't be any difference in charging speed between the 1m cable that you get with your iphone to the 2m cable.

i have run some test over the week using my original apple 10W wall adapter and every time the outcome is like this:

1M cable-10W adapter charge time = 2 hours and 33 mins.

2M cable-10W adapter charge time = 3 hours and 10 mins.

do i have a defective cable or is the chargeing speed just slower with the longer cable?

Longer cables will ALWAYS have a longer charge time than a shorter cable. I have longer 8 foot cables that I only use when charging over night as I am sleeping. The smaller 1 and 2 foot cables I use in the car and office if needed, because they charge faster.

You most likely won't notice as much of a difference from 6 to 8 feet, but yes, even for Apple cables, shorter cables charge faster. Period.

Now, your numbers may show something else...you may have a defective cable. 40 minutes shorter charge times for 1 meter vs 2 meter may be a little extreme. Perhaps if you had a 1 foot cable, maybe. But you shouldn't see much more than a 5% difference from 1 meter to 2 meters. This is assuming you are using good quality, similar, undamaged cables without kinks and rips.

I suppose that you have defective cable. Because only with defect original cable or fake cable you will have more resistance it will cause slower charge.
