Do fans get blocked on a mac

I know that on windows laptops, due to most of their designs, it's not good to use the laptop on a bed or similar surface because particles can get sucked in and go into the fans since the fans commonly have openings on the bottom of the laptop.

Does this still apply for MacBook Pros? The air vent is between the screen and the keyboard right, so would it be fine to use the laptop on a bed?

Hi,

No, the fans will not suck things up from the bottom of the MBP. However, Apple says not to use the MBP on any soft surface like a bed, or pillow, or lap, as this can lead to overheating. The entire aluminum case acts as a heat sink and when you block the underside of it you're preventing air from circulating around it and cooling it.

No, there is a small space allowed by the feet for airflow. And on a soft surface like a bed or pillow, the surface "wraps up" around the edges a bit, sealing that off and actually insulating it, holding the heat in there. On your lap, in addition to blocking most of the air flow, you're actually adding to the ambient air temperature with your body heat.
