searchtechstart.com keeps opening new tabs with McAfee ads

Run a scan with MalwareBytes - http://malwarebytes.org/mac. I suspect you have adware. When it's done, you'll still need to change your homepage preference back, assuming the adware changed it. Go to Safari > Preferences > General, and change the home page back.
