problem connecting iPhone 6 to iTunes: non valid response

I just changed from iphone 4S to iPhone 6 but the new device does not connect to iTunes on my Mac Pro. I get a message that connection has failed due to invalid responce from device. Can anybody help?

iPhone 6, iOS 10.1.1, iTunes on Mac is 11.4 version

Is your Mac running 10.9.5 or later? If not there's your problem. iOS 10 system requirements are below.User uploaded file
