Upload a DVD to YouTube

Hi I'm running Sierra 10.12.2

I have IMovie 10.1.4

and IDVD 7.1.2

I used to play in a band and a friend made a DVD of four songs with the marquee (idvd) type menus when it first loads. I'd like to post the individual songs to YouTube. Which program do I use and can I get a step by step process?

Here is a screen shot of what I see in finder for the DVD...User uploaded file

Hi,

Option-drag the three .VOB files to your desktop. This will copy them to your desktop without removing them from your DVD.

Convert the copied .VOB files to Mp4 movies, using the free download, Handbrake.

Drag the converted .VOB files, now Mp4 movies, into iMovie to edit as you wish. After you edit them, share them out to your desktop as a "File", which will give you an Mp4 movie. Drag the shared out movie into the You Tube upload window.

If you want, you can skip iMovie and simply upload the converted .VOB files directly into You Tube. But then you would not have the advantage of editing.

Glad it worked for you.

Your comment about Handbrake is interesting. I have never heard that before. I use Handbrake all of the time and it functions perfectly, converting the entire clip. I'll bet that if you re-download it your issue with it will be fixed. But maybe not necessary since you found a program that works for you.

Best,
