Can't record enable a plug-in instrument track

Hi folks, I have just started using Logic Express 7.2.3 on an Intel iMac Dual Core. I'm looking at the demo versions of a couple of new native instruments (instruments) such as FM8. It may be because they are demo versions but I can't record enable the track in Logic. I can play the instrument and hear it, but can't record. The record enable button in the track wont show up. Any ideas?

PoweBook Intel iMac, Mac OS X (10.4.8)

In Logic Express, there's no record-enable buttons. Simply select the track you want to record and start recording.

Thanks for the response. I do as you say but no midi data gets recorded. I wonder if this is because the NI apps are demo versions.

No, it doesn't matter if those are demo-versions, the problem is elsewhere. Does it work with a Logic soft synth?

OK worked it out. I have an iMac in work as well as at home. The one at work I've been using the built in soft keyboard of the NI instruments. When at home though, I used a midi keyboard which works fine. I guess the keyboard on the instruments themselves are just to preview the sounds.

Yeah, of course, the keys on NI synths don't send midi data to Logic. Like you said, it's only for internal use.
