IOS 10.2 data connection network problems

After upgrading to 10.2 I noticed a specific app was not working... Daylite made by MarketCircle. Hang on... Before you suggest I goto MarketCircle support (I did submit a ticket).

When I am away from my office, and launch Daylite on my phone, it attempts to sync to my server, but gives an error message that it cannot connect (It's really fast, like it's not even trying to get out of the phone).

If I turn on wifi from where every I am, it connects fine.

I use T-Mobile.

My wifes phone is on IOS 10.1, same Daylite software. If I turn off her Wifi, and try to connect with T-mobile Data. it works!

Ironically, the company's marketing website www.marketcircle.com will not load in safari on my iPhone with on Data only. (no, it's not the same IP as my server in my office) The server I want the app to connect to, is a local server I set up myself using Comcast. My wife's iPhone works fine on Data only. We both have T-mobile, iPhone 7. I'm on IOS 10.2, she is on IOS 10.1.

Think your good with IOS? Ok, what have I missed?

I tried the following:

1: Delete the Daylite App and re-download. - No luck

2: Reset Network Settings - no luck

3: Reset All Settings - no luck

4: Restore iphone from back up - no luck

5: Wipe my phone, set up as new iphone, download Daylite again. - No luck.

6: I did restart the server of course...

In all tests, all other internet, e-mail, websites seem to work fine on Data only. The server, the www.marketcircle.com website all work fine from other devices and computers. If I turn on wifi, also works fine.

So, something is going on. I use T-Mobile. Maybe there is something there.

When testing on Data: I can PING the marketcircle website, but not my server IP address at my office. if I turn on WIFI, I can PING both.

Ok people. Any ideas?

Ok, in case anyone else is having this problem. Here is the response from ******: Basically, upgrade to version 6. I get it. Bummer. They say it is not compatable with IOS 10. Although, it's been working until 10.2. So, something in IOS 10.2 changed. Bummer....

Ok, better to know so I can stop the "work around chase"

But if anyone thinks of something, please let me know.

Hi Ethan,

Daylite 5 is not compatible with iOS 10. In order to use Daylite on 10 you would need to purchase and upgrade to Daylite 6.

We have a blog post here with some more information along with a discount for upgrading.

Thanks,

No no... DO NOT upgrade to IOS 10.2 if you use T-Mobile.

So far, I've been troubleshooting this for over a week. MarketCircle told me to upgrade, with out even investigating, so after interupting my entire company for a day to conduct the upgrade, the problem still lives on.

I have since suspected that the problem is between T-Mobile and IOS 10.2

I have a second iPhone 7. It seems that after the upgrade to 10.2, only using T-Mobile, the network issues show up.

What a mess... I'll keep you posted.

Another test. this is from Market Circle

Thanks for the email.

The Ports that Daylite uses is 6180, 6181, 6182, 6183, 6185 and 6188. The most important one for Daylite on the iOS is Port 6182.

I used my iphone to give a hot spot to both my Mac and my iPad. The Mac connects to both Daylite AND www.marketcircle.com the iPhone and my iPad (connected to my iPhone via hot-spot) show a network connection error when attempting to use both Daylite app or Safari trying to connect to www.marketcircle.com

This leads me to think that the problem is somewhere in IOS 10.2 But... Then why... when we pop in a Verizon or ATT Sim card, does the problem go away?

Anyone have ideas?

Hello Im having the same issue but with other things. I help run an internet radio station it is available on Tunein and there are a few links you can play it from. I cant play it from the Tunein app I get an error or from any of the links like https://be100radio.airtime.pro/ you can play other stations on Tunein app just none hosted by the service we use to host our stream. If anyone wants to try it they can install the Tunein app and search for BE 100 Radio and let me know if you have the same issue. Im on T-mobile and Im running iOS 10.2
