M-Audio DirectLink for Logic drivers vs"Auto Assign" in Logic 10.2

Should I be using the M-Audio DirectLink for Logic drivers in addition to selecting "Auto Assign" in Logic 10.2?

On my Oxygen 49 MKIV, mapping seems random and the assignment of smart controls is inconsistent from one instrument to the next.

Also I received a message to set the M-Audio to preset 1 channel 1 program 00 - but I can't find anything about how to set these values in the M-Audio startup guide.

Don't you have:

Global PGM Presets

In the upper left hand corner?

Global = 1 PGM = 00 Preset = 1

The M-Audio manual should tell you how to access these... probably the left/right arrow keys and select button.
