Help!!! iPhone 6 only shows my wallpaper

I was simply using my iPhone as usual when suddenly it shut off. When I pressed the home button to turn it on again it only showed my wallpaper. NOT my wallpaper for my lock screen but my home screen...? This was the only thing that showed. Nothing else. I tried powering off, that doesn't work, and when you turn it off it immediate goes black instead of a brief fade to black. The only thing I can do is flick up that bottom menu, with the flashlight, music player, calculator, etc. None of the buttons work however except the flashlight, and for some odd reason I can play my music perfectly fine (and it doesn't bring anything up when you click the song either), mute and unmute the phone, change the volume...but that's it. Nothing else. I'm very frustrated with my phone because it has always had issues but this is the last straw. Please, if anyone knows how to fix this, I would really appreciate it!

Oh, one more thing: I had changed the home screen wallpaper only a few minutes before and that's the one that shows up when I turn it on. I don't know if that was part of the problem or not.

Greetings David Sam!

Thanks for reaching out to the Apple Support Communities! It sounds like you are having issues with your iPhone not showing the home screen properly. Restarting the device is a great step to start with. Next, you should reinstall iOS on your iPhone. This should not affect any of your data, but it is always a best practice to make sure you have a current backup in either iTunes or iCloud. How to back up your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch - Apple Support

Once you have a current backup, follow the steps from the "If your device turns on but gets stuck during start up" section in this article: If your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch won't turn on - Apple Support . These steps will reinstall iOS. Keep in mind that these steps were written for a different issue, but they will still help us isolate the situation further. Then, test the issue to see if it is still going on.

Cheers!
