sony mp3 player

hello,
i recently changed my pc for a mac. my ipod nano works well (obviously), but my girlfriend's mp3 player (sony NW-E55) is not even recognized as an external usb device. is there a way to make it work or for now is this issue an idea for a new gift for her? (hooo, an iPod, thanks honey!)

Hello and Welcome to Apple Discussions.

If the mp3 player won't mount on the desktop then it doesn't have USB Mass Storage (link is a PDF about USB Mass Storage) enabled in it's design (i.e. you need Sony's software to use it). I think you're out of luck unless you're prepared to install BootCamp and a copy of Windows on your iMac.
