I ran EtreCheck on my iMac and it said User Launch Agents failed

The following was red flagged:

User Launch Agents:

[failed] com.apple.CSConfigDotMacCert-[...]@me.com-SharedServices.Agent.plist (2011-06-15) - /System/Library/Frameworks/CoreServices.framework/Frameworks/OSServices.framewo rk/Versions/A/Support/CSConfigDotMacCert: Executable not found!

The only other area flagged was Time Machine Auto backup turned off. I do it manually.

What does the failed User Launch Agent mean and what problems can it cause?

Your computer is a bit of a mess, you have installed Avast Antivirus on it which at best is worthless and at worst may damage the operating system. Locate the developers instructions and uninstall then restart in Safe Mode to clear some caches and then restart normally and retest.

In addition, your computer should have more RAM installed. When it was shipped with Snow Leopard in 2011 4GB of RAM was fine, you have upgraded to Sierra which requires more RAM. I would upgrade to a minimum of 8GB using either Crucial or (www.macsales.com) OWC RAM.

Mac OS is extremely secure and does not require any, repeat any antivirus, cleaning, or any other types of third party maintenance apps. If simply kept up-to-date and otherwise left alone Mac OS runs reliably for years for most users.

Here's a copy of the EtreCheck report. Sorry I didn't include it initially.

EtreCheck version: 3.1.5 (343)

Report generated 2016-12-26 14:38:00

Download EtreCheck from https://etrecheck.com

Runtime 3:34

Performance: Good
