Verizon jetpack disconnects wifi from iPhone 5 after some time of inactivity.

Trying to see if anyone has this issue with iPhone 5 (8.4.1) and a Verizon Jetpack. I'm trying to leave both in the car. I want the WiFi to always be connected to the iPhone so when I get in the car and go I can tell Siri to play music or give directions. I don't want to have to touch the devices every time I get in the car and activate the WiFi cause I always forget to anyway. And if I have to do that might as well just turn on the mobile Hotspot on my s6 and not worry about it.

I have messed with different settings. Have reset network settings in iPhone. Tried never auto locking. Tried automatic proxy. On the jetpack I have put it to never sleep or power down. The screen does still go off after 2 minutes. The iPhone is connected to the radio but won't always have power to it when my car is off.

Am currently trying the changing the channel thing at the moment.

Basically need to figure this out soon because if I have to touch the devices I'm just going to return the Jetpack.

I forgot to mention... The iPhone is being used as an iPod because my iPod 5g was acting up and wasn't capable of carplay. I bought the iPhone used and its perfect compared to the iPod. It is not connected to my cell phone service. It is way more expensive to add the iPhone as a third line just to give it service for Siri to go through my music collection. As for the added Jetpack, I just thought it would be easier and cheaper. I always forget to turn on/off my mobile Hotspot on my s6 (before I leave the driveway) which is on a line of service and its a pain in the butt to take it out of my pocket, put the passcode in, swipe down, click on mobile Hotspot, click "ok" and then check for when it connects to the iPhone...all while being in the road. It's not safe, and it deters from having Siri in the first place.

Yes sorry I've had to post about a lot of different things/issues on this forum and others and honestly I just get tired of having repeat all the information and write it out and half the time I get 0 answers. Thanks for the prompt response and answer. I had seen about your answer of not connected to a power source in another forum but didn't quite get it until now. I'm just tired of these workarounds to simply get Siri to play music on the actual device. It's not on Apple music or anything like that. I can understand the maps part but ugh.

Anyway, the bigger issue is I get in my car and go. No matter what I don't linger. And when I get to where I'm going I also forget to go back to regular connection like my houses' wifi. Thus could be an issue for draining data. Too bad there isn't a "out of range/in range" option on s6 or iPhone but eh. I give up. I have racing thoughts something terrible and when I listen to my music one song will make me think of another and it's too hard to search through a bunch of playlists and 3000 songs to find what i want without Siri.

I know this must sound trivial but to me its not.

Can't ever get rid of the racing thoughts, so this system has to stay in place.
