PLEASE HELP FCPX 10.3.1 Color shift issue during playback

I am completely new to FCPX and video editing in general. So far learning everything has been a breeze EXCEPT for this issue that is driving me entirely insane where the colors during playback will shift in and out at random.

I took of video to show what happens. Watch at 0:08 and 0:15. It's as if a filter gets applied over the footage for a split second and then goes away. I've searched for two days on Google and can't find a single solution.

I'll try and provide as much info as possible.

I have a mid-2012 macbook pro. 2.7GHZz i7 16GB MacOS Sierra 10.12.2

The footage comes from a GoPro Hero 5. Shot in 2.7k @30 fps .MP4 files

I've tried to import the footage as Optimized, Proxy, Both and Neither. All 4 of those options the problem still happens.

The footage plays perfectly on the camera and in quicktime and only has this issue in FCPX.

I've tried to switch between "better quality" and "better performance" and that doesn't do it.

I've tried it with background rendering on and off. Still happens with both.

I've tried importing with color balance and without, still happens.

There are no effects or anything crazy going on. Just simple clips on the timeline and that's it.

This is extremely distracting and I just want to be able to play my videos without a random change in color happening. It's always at different times too, never the same.

PLEASE HELP!

MacBook Pro, null

Thank you so much, this has been driving me crazy. I wanted to save space so I was leaving all files in place. A quick re-import of my GoPro files copying to library and no color shifting. Its funny, it was only my GoPro Hero 5 footage that this was happening with. I am using iPhone/dslr/gopro files in any given project and it was always the GoPro footage I had this issue with. Maybe something with the GoPro codec? Anyway THANKS AGAIN!

UPDATE: Problem fixed in case this ever happens to anyone else. It was just a matter of choosing "Copy To Library" instead of "Leave Files In Place" because FCPX was still working with the original files even though I was importing them as "Create Optimized Media"

To double check: Click on a clip after importing, go to file and transcode media. If it let's you change it to Optimized Media even though you already did that during import, FCPX is still displaying the non-transcoded files. Either fix all of the clips right there like that or reimport them making sure Copy To Library is selected.

I doubt this is a common problem at all, but hopefully it'll help someone else if it happens to them. Don't drive yourself crazy like I did and think something is wrong, it's such a simple solution that got easily overlooked.

Cheers!
