iPhone 7/plus iMessage effects - iOS 10.2

I recently switched over from an iPhone 6 to an iPhone 7 plus for Christmas and noticed that in iMessage I can receive messages used with effects and see them, but I can't send them on my own. My software is updated to the newest iOS 10.2 and reduced motion is off and has never been on. I've looked all over the internet but I guess since the update is so new there isn't much on it. If anyone else has encountered this problem and has a solution it'd be appreciated.

Hey layaK.5,

I work for The Cellular Connection and had a customer come in with the same question. After testing it out a few times I learned that it's all in the way of how your pressing down on the screen of your iPhone 7/7+. The screen of the 7/7+ is much stronger and doesn't have you rest your finger on the arrow like how you would on the iPhone 6. You simply just need to press and hold down on the arrow until your 7/7+ screen either jults/vibrates and that will bring the message effects up very quickly with no blurred out screen.

I've followed the steps as well and nothing I do seems to resolve the problem. My phone has an instructional that guides you through it, leading one to believe it should be a feature but no luck. I have an iPhone 7 plus red edition and I presently have no needed updates and it's using a 10.3.1 software.

Hi LayaK.5,

It appears that you are unable to send message effects from the iPhone 7 Plus. I use the message effects daily so I can understand your concern. Let's see what we can do.

First step is to close out of the Messages app. Then turn off iMessage. Restart the iPhone. Then turn iMessage back on.

Force an app to close on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

Restart your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

Once it's back on, go ahead and try to send a message with effects.

Thank you for the quick reply, unfortunately though, I am still unable to use the effects in iMessage even after following the steps. After doing it a couple times I've given up. I'm still able to use them on my ipad, but not able to on my iPhone.

HI! I had the same trouble. I did do a hard restart and it seems to have fixed for now. But I have to really press on that button and hold for a few seconds to get the effects to pop up.

For some reason even a hard restart didn't fix the issue. When i press for a while the text just gets into focus while everything else on the screen blurs.

If you do not want this feature anymore and want to go back to the way it was set up on your iPhone 6 all you need to do is turn 3D Touch off

-Accessibility

-3D Touch

The screen is pressure sensitive

Push hard on the send arrow on iPhone 7plus

You'll get the effects menu
