My "Documents" folder has disappeared off my Drive

Hi all,

I have recently updated my operating system and I have found that the documents folder has gone missing from the drive. when I click on recently opened items I am then told that i do not have permission to open this. I have linked my iCloud storage and that is all i can now see. I have gone into the Finder Preferences and there is no option for the documents folder to be visible these documents are not on the iCloud. Can anyone help?

Not helpful. I have the same issue. They show on my iCloud but not harddrive. I didn't want Documents on iCloud but on my hd. I have another hd for backups. I only planned on using iCloud for Family photos but would like to just remove any connection to iCloud.

You must of enabled iCloud Drive during installation of Sierra. If you want to disable iCloud Drive then go to the System/iCloud preference pane and uncheck iCloud Drive:

Then follow the directions to return the files to your HD.

Copy the files from iCloud Drive to a folder other than Documents and the Desktop. Go to System Preferences/iCloud/iCloud Drive/Options and turn off syncing. Rearrange the files as desired.
