Attempting a restore from Time Capsule

I'm trying to restore a backup from my Time Capsule (latest firmware installed) to a MacBook Pro (mid 2012). I chose the backup that I want to restore, and it then proceeds to check the available space on my MacBook hard drive. After a few minutes, I get a success message saying it will now restore to this drive.

12 hours later, it's still sitting on a screen that says "Restoring". Above the progress bar, this is exactly what it says:

<DO NOT LOC> status

And below the progress bar it says:

<DO NOT LOC> time remaining

This is all it says on the screen. I assumed at some point it would give me a time estimate, but nothing yet.

I think the size of the backup is somewhere around 400gb, so I know it'll take a long time, but it's the "DO NOT LOC" message that I'm confused by. Do I just need to be patient?

In addition to WIFI, I also have an ethernet cable connected between the Time Capsule and the MacBook Pro.

Any suggestions would be appreciated!

I have the same issue - Time Machine Restore appears to have stopped and the only message is <DO NOT LOC> status; I am directly connected to the Time Capsule using an ethernet cable. Also, when I open the log messages, there are a series of messages - see the following picture... any ideas? Should I let this run for the next 12 hours? It is about a 120GB restore.

I am going blind trying to read the messages. But it does not look like it is working.

How old is the laptop? Do you have any applecare? If so ring apple and get them to talk you through it.

Did you install the OS before you started? Is this migration or are you using the Setup Assistant from the recovery.

I think it is better to install the OS first if it won't work with setup assistant. Then migrate your files and apps.

Not surprising really..

I need to know how you started this Restore..

What controls can you get to..

If you stop it, will it leave the computer without an OS?

Are you restoring Sierra over Sierra.. or is this trying to go to earlier OS?

Ok.. your new post just came in..

Migration Assistant is much the better way. So see how that goes. Use ethernet only.. turn off wireless before you start it.
