unlock Mac with AppleWatch

Hi, I've a MacBook Air (Mid. 2012) with MacOS Sierra (10.12.2) and an AppleWatch Series2 (watch OS 3.1) but my Mac is too old and doesn't support the automatic unlock with AppleWatch.

Is there something that I can do to do this anyway? How can I get around this?

Thanks,

Jacopo

To be precise, for some Macs you need the late 2013 model to support Auto Unlock. The bottle neck is the Wi-Fo card. Some users replaced the that part to a card that supports Auto Unlock:

Auto Unlock works with these devices and operating systems:

watchOS 3macOS Sierra
  • Apple Watch (1st generation)
  • Apple Watch Series 1
  • Apple Watch Series 2
  • MacBook (Early 2015 or newer)
  • MacBook Pro (Late 2013 or newer)
  • MacBook Air (Mid 2013 or newer)
  • Mac mini (Late 2014 or newer)
  • iMac (Late 2013 or newer)
  • Mac Pro (Late 2013 or newer)
